"1351: The Darkest Days" has always been conceived as a pure, classic GB rom.
However, I noticed that by enabling a specific configuration in GB Studio, the final ROM produced would "behave" as a GBC rom, thus, this would disable the palette selection feature when playing the game on a GBA/GBA SP. (Which IMO is a really cool feature).
So, as I really like this feature,  I have added another version of the 2023 edition that supports this.

There are 2 versions for 2023 edition now:

1. 1351-TheDarkestDays-2023-29SEP2023-GBC-Turbo.gb

This is the initial release for 2023 edition.
It plays faster, but lacks the palette selection feature as it is "internally" considered as a GBC rom. It can play on both emulator and console.

2. 1351-TheDarkestDays-2023-11NOV2023.gb

This is a new release built without any GBC features added - the game plays at normal speed - but it supports the palette selection feature. This version will not work on emulators - I don't know why!

"1351: The Darkest Days" - 2023 Edition is released!

1351: The Darkest Days was one of my first "decent" projects in GB Studio.
By the time of the final release (R31), I came to believe that the game was a good, solid and complete title; and I really thought I was pretty much done with it.
As I worked on other projects - from simple experiments to other big projects -, I got more experienced; and, having re-played the game many times, a few ideas to improve/enhance the experience started brewing.
So, as a small "break" from other projects, I decided to work on these ideas...and the final result turned out great!

I definitely feel the overall game experience got better! 

2023 edition is R31 version at the core, including the following features:

• Added support for BATTERY SAVE cartridge!
  Now you can save your progress in between quests, and resume your quest!
  Basic Saved Game data features are available: save game, resume game, overwrite saved game data and clear saved game data.
• Added a new "Bad Ending" screen, with a nightmarish animation, along with a new music track ( see if you can get it!)
• Enhanced many in-game graphics: worked on several adjustments on most elements: backgrounds, sprites and other User Interface artifacts.  A few animations were enhanced as well.
• Revised and rewrote MOST dialogue text, so the experience is even more immersive.
• Added a new Game Menu screen.
• Enhanced BGM mode to play music tracks.
• Re-worked, and improved core algorithms related to game mechanics to allow room for new features!
• Re-worked music so it sounds better and louder!
• Improved randomization algorithms.
